Canadian billionaire Steve Apostolopoulos is the latest potential bidder in the race to acquire the Washington Commanders, league sources have confirmed. Aposolopoulos took a tour of the Commanders’ stadium and training facility after signaling his intentions.

Apostolopoulos becomes the third known bidder for the Commanders, the other two being groups led by Josh Harris and Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta. There is also speculation that Amazon founder Jeff Bezos may have entered the mix.

Commanders’ takeover talks began last November when current owners Dan and Tanya Snyder announced their decision to sell the team. Forbes valued the team at $5.6 billion.

Born in Toronto, Apostolopoulos is the founder of Six Ventures Inc.; a private equity venture fund. He also contributed to a wide array of philanthropic organizations.

His rival, Harris, recently strengthened his own group with the addition of Washington-based billionaire Mitchell Rales and NBA Hall of Famer Magic Johnson.
