Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is currently being evaluated for a right elbow injury, a source confirmed on Tuesday. This leaves him in doubt for the Bills’ game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

Medical assessments are being performed to determine the extent of the injury to the player’s ulnar collateral ligament and related nerves. According to coach Sean McDermott, Allen’s recovery timeline as of Monday remains uncertain.

“We’re just going through it, still evaluating it, and we’ll see where it goes,” McDermott stated, adding, “I’ll know more in the next 24 hours and then probably be able to check in with [the media] back on Wednesday.”

Allen injured his elbow during the Bills’ 20-17 loss to the New York Jets on Sunday when Jets defensive lineman Bryce Huff crashed into Allen’s throwing arm. Allen then completed a low pass, after which clenched his right elbow and tried to shake his arm. “There’s some slight pain, but we’ll get through it,” Allen told the press after the game.

Should Allen be unable to face the Vikings, backup quarterback Case Keenum will be expected to fill the void. This is the first time since his rookie year, when he also suffered a UCL injury, that Allen may miss a regular season game.
