Saunders had a great super-middleweight debut fight last Saturday. The ex-middleweight champion won the WBO super-middleweight title in a fight against Shefat Isufi, a fight that Saunders dominated from the first round to the last.

The champion gave a stunning energetic performance that fascinated everybody watching the fight. The fight was scored a win for Saunders by all three judges with 120-108, 117-111 and 118-110 crowning Saunders as the world champion in his hometown at the Lamex stadium in Stevenage.

During the first half of the match, Saunders literally controlled the fight and Isufi was struggling in vain to catch his breath and counter-attack the opponent. The first danger for Sunders’ title came in during the midway mark of the fight when he sustained a strong left hook. Isufi failed to take advantage of this great opportunity to turn things around and Saunders managed to get the initiative firmly in his grasp.

This is a great success for Sounders after his devastating 2018 when he gave up his title and was instructed to pay $100,000 in fines. Now he ranks with top world fighters being a two-weight champion, in both middleweight and super-middleweight.
