Bobby Wagner expressed gratitude over his return to the Seattle Seahawks this offseason. In a surprise move, the linebacker left the Seahawks last offseason.

“It just seemed like the right thing,” Wagner said of his return during an interview on 710 ESPN Seattle’s Brock and Salk on Wednesday. “Everybody was excited to have me back in the building, but even like walking around, going to the store, things of that nature, you could just feel that there’s a lot of love and support here. So I’m grateful that that’s what it is. I’m grateful for how the fans have re-embraced me.”

Last offseason, Wagner signed a five-year, $50 million deal contract with the Los Angeles Rams – a controversial decision given the divisional rivalry between the Seahawks and the Rams. There was also tension regarding the way that Seattle handled the departure of one of its best and most popular players.

Wagner signed a new deal with the Seahawks on March 25 after leaving the Rams on what he called a “true mutual decision.”
