With the draw with Paraguayan champions Cerro Porteno, the Libertadores and defending champions River Plate are set to battle against their biggest rivals Boca Juniors for the final in Santiago De Chile.

After the 2-0 victory at Monumental, River secured a 1-1 draw in Paraguay and with a total result of 3-1, they moved closer to another final. The home side opened the score first in the 8th minute through Nelson Valdez, when his header found the back of the net and left Franco Armani without a chance to react. At the start of the 2nd period, River scored to level the result through Nicolas De La Cruz in the 52nd minute.

A day earlier, Boca played a goalless draw against Ecuadorian team LDU Quito after the huge 0-3 away victory in Quito a week ago. Boca was focused on defending their goal and only chance on the match was the goalpost from Boca’s Eduardo Salvio who got injured shortly after.

This will be the second Superclasico within a year, after last season’s Libertadores final when River won the title over Boca, far away from home in Madrid, Spain due to the incidents at the 2nd leg.

Both teams will face each other in the Primera A this week with River being the host.
