Fans all over the world are waiting for the start of the Premier League which is just a few days away and British soccer clubs are concluding their final signings and transfers. The London-based club Arsenal is departing with another one of their players as Bordeaux signs their defender Laurent Koscielny.

The League 1 club reached an agreement with the Gunners that will bring Koscielny to Bordeaux for a fee of $5.5 million. The star defender managed to pass Bordeaux’s medical and he will be leaving London after nine years spent on the soccer field wearing the Gunners’ jersey.

With over a year left in his current contract with Arsenal, the club was keen on keeping the Frenchman on their team, but Koscielny had different plans in mind, asking them for a free transfer and also refusing to be part of the Arsenal’s pre-season tour. They tried to keep the defender and offered him a new contract but he respectfully declined their offer.

The club thanked Koscielny for his contribution to the club and wished him all the best in the future in an official statement.
