The Atlanta Braves have been hit with a brutal stretch of injuries ever since the 2020 season began last month, and they have added star outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. to the list of players which are unable to play after placing him on the injured list over the weekend.

Acuna started to feel discomfort in his left wrist last week and hasn’t played since last Tuesday. The team thought that he might be able to return to the lineup after just a few days of rest, but after he was examined over the weekend, it became clear that an IL stint would be necessary.

The Venezuelan outfielder, a 2019 NL All-Star and the 2018 NL Rookie of the Year, has gotten off to a strong start for the first-place Braves, belting 4 home runs and recording 9 RBI while compiling a .258 batting average and a .372 on-base clip.

Acuna became Atlanta’s fourth key player to go on the IL after the move, joining ranks with Mike Soroka (torn Achilles), Ozzie Albies (wrist sprain), and Cole Hamels (triceps injury).

The Braves will hope that Acuna’s IL stint is brief and that he will be able to rejoin the team at some point over the weekend or next week.
