Injuries continue to be an issue for the Atlanta Braves in 2020. The team announced on Wednesday that both second baseman Ozzie Albies and designated hitter Matt Adams are heading to the 10-day injured list.

According to the announcement, Albies is dealing with a sore wrist while Adams suffered a left hamstring strain. This comes just days after the team lost Mike Soroka to a season-ending injury.

In a corresponding move, Braves recalled catcher Alex Jackson while also reinstating outfielder Nick Markakis from the restricted list.

Albies reportedly had issues with his wrist for weeks, and that showed on his game. In 11 games in 2020, he only hit .159 with one homer and six RBIs. Atlanta is expected not to rush the 23-year-old All-Star back on the field in order to avoid risking a bigger injury.

“You’ll see us space (the days off) out over a couple weeks in trying to nip it in the bud,” said Braves’ manager Brian Snitker. “It’s just one of those things we’ll try to manage and be smart about. I think with time, even in this short season, we can get him right.”

Adams, on the other hand, appears to have suffered the injury in the fourth inning of 10-1 win against Blue Jays. The 31-year-old DH was solid for Braves this season, hitting .212 with two home runs and seven RBIs. According to reports, his injury isn’t severe, and he won’t spend much time on the sidelines.

The Braves are currently second in the NL East with 8-4 record. After playing Blue Jays two more times, they are set to face Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday.
