Milwaukee Brewers infielder Luis Urias was placed on his team’s 10-day injured list on Saturday, prior to the Brewers’ 3-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs.

Brewers head coach Craig Counsell confirmed that Urias is dealing with a left hamstring strain which could become serious if not treated properly.

“It’s a solid hamstring strain, six to eight weeks, probably closer to eight, so it is significant,” Counsell confirmed on Saturday. “It’s unfortunate, but we will have to fill in around him, get him back in hopefully late May or early June.”

Urias picked up the injury on the opening day of the season when he went 0-for-4. While outfielder Joey Wiemer has been called up from Triple-A Nashville to fill the vacancy, it is Owen Miller, who has been spending time both as an infielder and an outfielder, who is expected to fill in for Urias as the team’s infielder. Wiemer made his major league debut on Saturday, slated to play at center and bat ninth.
