Many great players have never won the World Cup and it appears that the name of Lionel Messi will be added to that list after Argentina fell to a 4-3 defeat against France during the last-16 of the World Cup on Saturday.

Though Argentina gave a competitive performance and fought till the end, they were outplayed by the Franch team, which was more adept in terms of skill, speed, youth and ultimately goals.

The chief destroyer for France on the day was Kylian Mbappe who went on to score two goals and also won the penalty to create the first goal which was scored by Antoine Griezmann.

France will meet Uruguay on Friday after the South American team secured a 2-1 win over Portugal later on during the day.

Argentina’s defense has been their weak point during this World Cup and they gave the likes of Mbappe, Griezmann and Olivier Giroud too much space on the day.
