Ranked amongst the best quarterbacks of all time, Broncos manager John Elway has set standards for the type of quarterback the Broncos need to a new level. As a player, the 58-year old held the record for the most wins by a quarterback. He was the second best passer during his time and one of the best rushers of all time.

Elway is one of two players to score a rushing touchdown in four Super Bowls. He won two of the Super Bowls he participated in, was a Pro Bowler for nine times and owns a Super Bowl as a manager.

With such high-profile stats, the Broncos head coach knows exactly what he is looking for. He just doesn’t know where to find the right man for his team. According to John Lynch, the current 49ers head coach; it’s difficult for a former player to identify a player like himself. Former Broncos running back Terrel Davis also conquers.

“We look at Michael Jordan and say he should be able to find and identify the best basketball players in the world, but it doesn’t work that way,” Terrel told Sports Illustrated. “The problem is that it’s hard for John to see a QB and the kid can’t do what he can do.”

Maybe Terrel can’t find running backs and Lynch can’t find safeties. But that doesn’t mean Elway can’t find a QB like himself. He’s drafted good players in the past and he may have a chance at finding the right quarterback for the Broncos.
