Denver Broncos have depth issues on multiple positions, but defensive tackle isn’t one of them. This is why the team decided to move on from Timmy Jernigan, releasing the veteran on Tuesday.

Jernigan was featured in two games for Denver since joining the organization in late September. He played 11 snaps on defense, failing to record a single tackle.

Broncos confirmed the roster move on their social media.

Jernigan initially supposed to be with Houston Texans in 2020, having agreed on a contract with the team early in the offseason. However, the deal was later nixed due to unspecified reasons, allowing the 28-year-old defensive tackle to join Jacksonville Jaguars.

While in Jacksonville, Jernigan played in three games and accounted for one tackle, and one QB hit. He was released in Week 4 after the team decided to give their younger players more playing time.

Despite being released by two teams in a season, it is expected that Timmy Jernigan shouldn’t have trouble finding a new team. He has valuable experience as a starter and will be interesting to teams thin on the defensive line.

Jernigan previously also played with Baltimore Ravens and Philadelphia Eagles. He has 130 career tackles and 17.5 sacks since entering the league in 2014.
