Denver Broncos’ linebacker Von Miller is looking to build on his NFL 2010s All-Decade Team selection with more great accomplishments. Speaking with Broncos’ official website, Miller made it a goal for himself to lead the NFL in sacks and win the Defensive Player of the Year next season.

Despite having a decorated football career, which includes winning a Super Bowl, Miller never managed to accomplish any of these feats. He hopes 2020 will be different.

“I’ve got to lead the league in sacks,” said Miller. “And I feel like leading the league in sacks and Defensive Player of the Year go hand in hand. … I’ve got to put out one of those 22-sack years, 22-plus.”

The closest Miller got to leading the league in sacks was in 2012, when he had 18.5 sacks. Unfortunately for him, that was also the year that Houston Texans’ J.J. Watt had 20.5 sacks and won the DPOY award in the process.

“Every great pass rusher is doing it,” he added. “I just can’t average high sack [numbers] — I’ve got to lead the league.”

Von Miller certainly doesn’t need extra motivation to have a big 2020, especially after having a down season last year. Miller finished 2019 with 8.0 sacks, just the second time he wasn’t in double digits in his career.
