The Cleveland Browns just can’t catch a break this offseason. According to multiple reports, the Browns’ right back Kareem Hunt has submitted an official trade request to the team.

Hunt is reportedly unhappy because he wants a new contract. The 27-year-old player has one year remaining on his 2-year, $12 million deal and believes he’s up for a raise. Besides the trade request, he also tried to pressure the Browns by skipping two days of practice.

The Browns reportedly swiftly denied the request, but the issue will probably persist until they either pay Hunt or trade him. In case they opt for the latter, there shouldn’t be a lack of suitors for the 2017’s NFL rushing yards leader.

Hunt only played eight games in 2022 due to a calf injury. However, when healthy, he showed he could be one of the most dynamic rushers in the league. He especially developed a good partnership with fellow Browns back Nick Chubb, forming one of the best backfields in the league.

“He’s my best friend on and off the field,” said Chubb after hearing the news about Hunt’s trade request. “I couldn’t imagine playing without him. I want him to be here. Whatever they gotta do to keep him here.”

Hunt entered the league in 2017 as the Kansas City Chiefs’ third-round selection. Since then, he has totaled 3,557 yards on the ground and 28 rushing touchdowns. The Toledo product is also a formidable weapon in the passing game, having 176 career receptions for 1,596 yards and 16 TDs.
