The Browns signed tight end Austin Hopper as a free agent during this offseason in a record-breaking contract and drafted Harris Bryant from Florida Atlantic this year. Although these moves are sure to affect the first-round pick David Njoku, he hasn’t given up hope for what he can bring to the team.

Njoku missed all but four games last season after suffering from a wrist injury which led to questions regarding his future with the team. The 23-year-old player recently sat down with Brown’s official website and said that he believes the “sky is the limit” for him this season as long as he stays healthy.

“My No. 1 goal is to stay healthy,” said Njoku. “If I can stay healthy, the sky is the limit. It’s going to be special. We have all the tools here, and we have a great coach, so we’re really excited to put it all together.”

Njoku’s 2019 season was disappointing, to say the least; he only had two starts and the Browns made several additions to the TE position. Despite this, the Browns exercises the fifth-year option on Njoku’s contract.

Alex Van Pelt, Cleveland’s new offensive coordinator told reporters that he plans to use sets that feature multiple tight sends, which means David Njoku and Austin Hopper would be on the field together. It’s yet to be decided if this will prolong Njoku’s career with the team.

Since entering the league in 2017, Njoku has played 36 games and has 93 receptions for 1,066 yards and nine touchdowns.
