Needing some depth on the wide receiver after Odell Beckham Jr’s injury, Cleveland Browns reportedly brought in a familiar face for a workout this week. According to multiple sources, the team hosted wideout Derrick Willies for a workout.

Willies visited Browns on Wednesday alongside WR Marcus Green, who is also looking for his shot to land a job this season.

As The Athletic’s Akron Jackson points out, there is a good chance that the Browns already made up their mind on Willies and intend to add him to their practice squad.

Willies signed with Browns in 2018 as an undrafted free agent, managing to make the active roster and actually having a promising start of his rookie campaign. He notably had a 39-yard reception in overtime against Baltimore Ravens in Week 5 to set up Cleveland’s game-winning field goal.

Unfortunately for Willies, he fractured his collarbone during practice several days later and spent the rest of 2018 on injured reserve. He returned to the team in 2019 but spend most of the season on the practice squad.

Marcus Green, on the other hand, is still waiting for his NFL debut. He was Atlanta Falcons’ sixth-round pick in 2019 but ended up being released during final roster cuts. Green spent time on Philadelphia Eagles’ practice squad afterward.
