Not everybody thinks that the NFL’s decision to proceed with 2020 amid coronavirus pandemic is a wise decision. According to Cleveland Browns’ star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., playing football in these conditions “doesn’t make sense.”

“Obviously with everything that’s going on, it doesn’t make sense why we’re trying to do this,” said Beckham in an interview with Wall Street Journal.

Beckham believes that the league isn’t ready to stage a football season at this moment but is still doing it for the money.

“We’re not ready for football season,” he added. “So why are we trying to push forward? It’s obviously for their money.”

Despite his unfavorable opinion on playing football this year, Beckham reportedly doesn’t intend to opt-out of the 2020 season.

Odell Beckham Jr. is expected to be the main offensive weapon for quarterback Baker Mayfield this year as Cleveland Brown looks to finally break their postseason drought. Beckham finished 2019 with 74 receptions for 1,035 yards and four touchdowns.

The NFL made several adjustments in attempts to cope with coronavirus pandemic so far, including canceling all preseason games and advising teams to limit the presence of fans on the stands. However, the league still intends to stick with the same regular-season schedule and play football as usual.
