It appears that defenseman Torey Krug’s time with Boston Bruins has come to an end. According to reports around the league, the Bruins are currently looking to trade Krug’s negotiation rights and don’t lack suitors.

Krug will become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, so acquiring negotiations rights doesn’t guarantee signing him. However, the team that does so will get a head start in contract talks compared to the rest of the field, which has to wait until October 9, the start of free agency.

Barstool Sports reported over the weekend that there are several teams looking to make a deal with Boston, but four have emerged as favorites: Detroit Red Wings, Colorado Avalanche, Las Vegas Golden Knights, and Florida Panthers.

Bruins would like to keep on Torey Krug, but their cap situation is limiting the offer they can give him. Krug, on the other hand, established himself as one of the most talented defenders in the league in recent seasons and is looking for a significant pay rise compared to $5.5 million he earned in 2019/20.

There is no clear favorite for Krug’s next destination, but Red Wings are rumored to have a good chance based on the fact that the 29-year-old player grew up in Detroit’s suburbs.

Krug made his debut for the Bruins in 2012 and has since played 523 games for the organization, contributing 67 goals and 270 assists. His total of 337 points represents the most scored in Bruins’ franchise history by an American-born player.
