Bruin’s Torey Krug will be sidelined for at least three weeks following an ankle injury he picked last Saturday in Boston’s final preseason game. The 27-year-old joins Anaheim’s Corey Perry and Seth Jones of the Columbus who are both injured.

While Confirming Krug’s injury, manager Don Sweeney specified the 27-year-old’s latest ankle fracture was unrelated to a similar issue he had earlier on. Krug is a crucial player to Boston’s blue line and his injury will come as a blow to the team.

The 27-year-old has reached at least 50 points in the last two seasons. He was ranked amongst the top 15 best defenders in the last season, having scored 14 goals and accumulated a total of 59 points.

In Boston, Krug was the fourth highest scorer despite being a defender. He trailed behind David Pastrnak, Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron. With him being injured, the Bruins will rely on veteran player Zdeno Chara and Charlie McVoy.

Chara was one of the best defenders in his prime. But despite his age, he can hold off opposing offenses better than most young stars in the league. Together with McVoy, Boston will hope to record a good start as they wait for Krug to get well.
