Despite the fact that Milwaukee Bucks already secured the best record in the regular season, their superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo keeps playing with an edge. However, on Tuesday night against Washington Wizards, he let the competitiveness get the best of him and he earned his first ejection of the season.

Early in the second quarter, Antetokounmpo was a subject of several hard fouls and grew increasingly frustrated by the tactic Wizards’ players employed. Finally, the 25-year-old player lost his temper 3:10 minutes in after being called for a charge call. While the action came to a halt, he approached Washington’s Moritz Wagner and headbutted him.

Officials immediately handed Antetokounmpo a Flagrant 2 foul, and he was escorted to the locker room.

Antetokounmpo, for whom this was fourth career ejection, showed remorse after the game.

“Terrible action,” said Antetokounmpo. “If I could go back, turn back time and go back to that play, I wouldn’t do it. But at the end of the day, we’re all human, we all make mistakes. I think I’ve done a great job all year, in my career at keeping my composure and focus on the game, but at the end of the day, we’re human and make mistakes.”

Even without their best player, Bucks ended up winning the game 126-113. Milwaukee will enter the playoffs as the No. 1 seed, while Washington already lost their chances to make the postseason.
