Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ running back Ronald Jones managed to significantly improve in 2019 after a disappointing rookie year. But the 22-year-old player doesn’t intend to stop there and believes he’s capable of even better performances this season.

Bucs drafted Jones in the second round of 2018 NFL Draft with high hopes, but USC’s product responded with just 23 carries for 44 rushing yards and one touchdown. However, things looked better in his sophomore year as he rushed for 724 yards and six TDs.

Jones is now ready to take his game on the next level, recently telling The Athletic that he’s “even better” and “more focused” in 2020.

“I’m even more excited to be back,” said Jones. “I’m feeling even better, having last year to come off of, so I feel like I’m in a great position, even better and more mentally focused than I was a year ago.”

Still, Jones knows that the man handing him the ball will also play a part in his success. This is why he already had several private workouts with Tampa Bay’s new signal-caller Tom Brady.

“I just tried to soak in everything he was telling me, his attention to detail,” said Jones. “We were running against air, but just still, being out there with him, getting that chemistry down, I felt that was important, and it’s going to help us when camp starts soon.”

Jones is expected to enter the 2020 NFL season as the Bucs’ No.1 back on the depth chart. However, the organization is reportedly looking to provide him with some veteran competition with veteran free agent Devonta Freeman being one of the mentioned names.
