The Buffalo Bills are reportedly signing free agent outside linebacker Leonard Floyd. According to ESPN’s Ian Rapoport, Floyd will receive a one-year deal.

Floyd was one of the best free agents still on the market. He started all 17 games with the Los Angeles Rams last season and finished the campaign with 59 tackles, 9.0 sacks, and 22 QB hits.

By getting Floyd, the Bills are most likely out of the DeAndre Hopkins sweepstakes. Buffalo was considered one of the main candidates to get All-Pro wideout, but that doesn’t seem realistic now, especially since the franchise was operating on a tight budget even before handing a contract to Floyd.

The Bills probably made the right decision since their need for a reliable rusher was bigger than their need for another offensive weapon. With Floyd, the team will have a safety net in case that star Von Miller doesn’t recover from his ACL tear in time. If Miller is ready to go, then the Bills will have the most competent pass-rushing duo that they had in a while.

Leonard Floyd entered the league in 2016 as the No.9 pick by the Chicago Bears. He spent four years with the Bears before departing as a free agent and joining the Rams. Floyd was part of the Rams’ team that won the Super Bowl LVI.

Over the course of his seven years in the league, Floyd totaled 338 tackles, 47.5 sacks, 103 QB hits, and two defensive touchdowns.
