Arizona Cardinals announced on Monday that they have signed veteran nose tackle Domata Peko. The move comes after the team lost several key players on the defensive line in recent weeks.

Peko visited the Cardinals last week and was expected to be added to the active roster once he clears health and safety protocols related to the coronavirus pandemic.

The 35-year-old player comes to the Cardinals after spending the last season with Baltimore Ravens. He played seven games in 2019, contributing with 14 tackles.

In Arizona, Peko will be reunited with defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, with whom he collaborated during his stints at Cincinnati Bengals and Denver Broncos.

“We’re excited about the signing,” said Cardinals’ head coach Kliff Kingsbury while speaking about Peko’s signing with reporters. “VJ has some history there. I only just met him (Monday), but I have heard great things about his attitude, his energy. He’s a guy who has played at a high level in this league for a long time.”

Domata Peko spent the first 11 years of his NFL career with the Bengals, who took him in the fourth round of the 2006 NFL Draft. He moved to Denver in 2017, spending two years with the Broncos before heading to Baltimore.

Peko played 208 games in the league and has totaled 600 tackles, 20.0 sacks, and 50 QB hits in his pro career.
