Arizona Cardinals decided to turn to the free-agent market in an attempt to add depth to their offensive line. The team confirmed on Friday that they have signed Kevin Beachum, bringing in the veteran on a one-year deal.

Beachum joins Arizona after spending the past three years with New York Jets. He started 45 games at left tackle with Jets since 2017, but the team decided not to extend his deal beyond 2019.

Cardinals most likely acquired Beachum as a safety net for their oft-injured O-line. The 31-year-old player also brings versatility and different options, as he can play both left tackle and right tackle.

Kelvin Beachum started his NFL career as a seventh-round pick with Pittsburgh Steelers. He started five games in his rookie season at right tackle. Steelers’ offensive line was coached by Sean Kugler, who now serves in the same position with Arizona.

Beachum switched to left tackle in his sophomore year and didn’t return to the right side since then. He played a total of 104 games with 99 starts over the course of his career.
