The Arizona Cardinals made a move to add veteran leadership to its wide receiving corps after agreeing to a deal with free-agent receiver Michael Crabtree on Wednesday.

The Cardinals and Crabtree agreed to a one-year deal whose monetary value has yet to be disclosed. Arizona hosted Crabtree for a workout two weeks ago but decided not to offer the veteran wide receiver a deal after thinking that the 32-year-old was asking for too much money.

Whether Crabtree’s demands lessened or the Cardinals decided that his requested $3.5 million price tag is still yet to be determined. What’s definite is that the team now has yet another stabilizing presence and a weapon for rookie quarterback Kyler Murray in his debut season.

Crabtree will line up opposite NFL legend Larry Fitzgerald in Arizona’s offense, offering Murray two big, proven targets. The Texas Tech alum spent the 2018 season with the Baltimore Ravens, hauling in 54 passes for a total of 607 yards and three touchdowns.

Crabtree is best known for his productive tenures in the Bay Area with the San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders, where he spent nine seasons, breaking the 1,000-yard mark twice.

The Cardinals are undoubtedly thrilled to add an option of Crabtree’s caliber to their wide receiving corps as they look to improve on an NFL-worst 3-13 mark from last season.
