Arizona Cardinals are expected to add another corner in the wake of starter Robert Alford’s season-ending injury. After signing B.W. Webb and Ken Crawley last week, the team is now close to finalizing the addition of veteran Dre Kirkpatrick.

Kirkpatrick was in Arizona for a visit these past few days and reportedly impressed the team’s coaching staff and is expected to sign a deal after completing his physical. The 30-year-old player joins as a free agent, having been released by Cincinnati Bengals in March.

The move gives a viable option of No. 2 corner and it shouldn’t be surprising if Dre Kirkpatrick ends up starting alongside All-Pro Patrick Peterson. It is important to mention that Kirkpatrick will reunite with defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, who was his position coach in Cincinnati between 2014 and 2015.

Kirkpatrick was Bengals’ 17th overall pick in 2012 and has spent his entire career with the franchise. His stats include 302 tackles, 3.0 sacks, 65 pass deflections, 10 interceptions, and two defensive touchdowns.
