Arizona Cardinals got some great news on Wednesday. Their iconic wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald decided to sign a new contract with the organization and will return in 2020 for his 17th season as a pro.

Fitzgerald flirted with retirement on several occasions before and was tight-lipped about his future in NFL following the end of the 2019 regular season. Fortunately for Cardinals, the 36-year-old wideout determined he still has some gas in the tank and opted to return.

“This season was among the most fun of my career. The future is so bright for this team & I relish the opportunity to build with this talented young nucleus,” Fitzgerald posted on social media after the news was made public.

Fitzgerald had a productive season in 2019, emerging as the most prominent weapon for the Cardinals’ rookie quarterback Kyler Murray. He finished the year with 75 receptions for 804 yards and four touchdowns.

Playing in 2020 will allow Larry Fitzgerald to add to his already all-time great career. He is currently second for most career receptions (1,387) and most career receiving yards (17,083) while being sixth on the all-time receiving touchdowns list with 120.

During his illustrious career, Fitzgerald earned 11 Pro Bowl selections.
