Mexican World Cup hero and former Arsenal FC player, Carlos Vela, is impressed by his performance in the MLS.

After signing with the expansion LAFC at the start of the year, the center forward has eight goals to his name and three assists.

Vela starred for Mexico at the recently held World Cup in 2018 where El Tris shocked the world by defeating 2014 champions, Germany, 1-0. Mexico eventually exited at the round of 16 after losing to Brazil 2-0.

In a recent interview, the former Arsenal forward shared his excitement for playing for LAFC and sharing a city with his NBA hero, Lebron James.

On his favorite player he said: “now he’s in LA I am really happy. Now I feel like it is clear why I am here. It’s the best place to be.”

Vela also said to love watching Hoops noting that he contemplated becoming a basketball player as a child.

“You have the choice,” I said, look, Carlos, you like basketball, but be clever. You are better at soccer.” Vela, on why he chose soccer over the NBA.

Former Arsenal striker, Vela had a spell in the premier league where he only scored 11 goals in seven seasons. Things seem to have improved for the Mexican star in the MLS where after only a few months of playing, he was voted to captain the 2018 MLS all-stars team that drew Juventus 1-1 on August 1st.
