Retired quarterback Carson Palmer is getting a big honor from his former NFL team. Arizona Cardinals announced on Tuesday that they are inducting Palmer into their Ring of Honor.
Palmer, who spent five seasons in Arizona, will be the 18th Cardinals player to receive this honor. The induction ceremony is scheduled to take place on September 29th at the halftime of the game against the Seattle Seahawks.
“I am absolutely honored,” – Palmer told team president Michael Bidwill during a video call. “Five years was not enough for me. I wish we would’ve gotten there earlier as you know, but I am beyond honored and I can’t wait. That’s amazing.”
Carson Palmer joined the Arizona Cardinals in 2013 in a trade from Oakland Raiders. During his five years with the organization, Palmer led the Cardinals to 38-21-1 record and two playoffs including an NFC Championship appearance. During that time he set the .642 winning percentage, which stands the best in franchise’s history. He decided to retire as member of the Cardinals following the end of 2017 season.
Palmer, who also played with Cincinnati Bengals, completed 62.5 percent of his passes for 46,247 yards and 294 touchdowns during his 15 years in the league. He has three Pro Bowl appearances and one Second-team All-Pro honor.
