Veteran corner Tramon Williams still has a chance to reach the Super Bowl this season despite the fact that the Baltimore Ravens got eliminated from the playoffs.

After being released by Baltimore earlier this week, Williams is now reportedly expected to sign with the Green Bay Packers. If the deal goes through, the 37-year-old veteran would be able to play in the NFC Championship game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

The news was first reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Tom Silverstein and later confirmed by Packers head coach Matt LaFleur.

“Assuming everything goes right, he’ll be on the practice squad,” said LaFleur on Thursday. “It’s great to have him back in the building. Such a great veteran leader. He’s obviously played a lot of ball. It’s great to have him in a Green Bay Packers uniform, that’s for sure.”

Tramon Williams previously had two stints in a Packers’ jersey. The first came between 2006 and 2014, during which he earned his only Pro Bowl nod and took part in the Super Bowl XLV win. His second spell at Lambeau Field was between 2018 and 2019.

Williams spent the better part of 2020 as a free agent before being picked up by the Ravens in November. He played seven games while in Baltimore, totaling one pass deflection and 17 tackles.
