Boston Celtics’ TD Garden is becoming a place where opposing teams come to lose. The Celtics beat the visiting San Antonio Spurs 117-98 on Wednesday night, extending their home winning streak to 20 games in the 2023-24 NBA season.

The Celtics are yet to lose at TD Garden this season and haven’t suffered a loss at home in 27 consecutive games regular-season games. This is the team’s longest home winning streak since it won 33 straight games between December 1986 and November 1987.

Missing starters Kristaps Porzingis and Derrick White, the Celtics saw stars Jayson Tatum, Jrue Holiday, and Jaylen Brown, each score 21+ points. Role players Payton Pritchard and Sam Hauser also stepped up with their contributions from the bench.

Speaking about the home winning streak, Celtics’ head coach Joe Mazzulla said his goal was to build a connection between the team and the home fan base.

“The goal has been to build a connection and identity with the city and with the team, to where they give us this lift and this level of this support that they have when we play a certain type of way, Celtics basketball. We’ve done that for the first 20 games at home. That’s been the goal, “Mazzulla said.

The Celtics will have an opportunity to extend the winning streak on Friday night when they welcome reigning NBA Champions Denver Nuggets.
