CF Montreal clinched an MLS playoff spot after drawing 2-2 with Columbus Crew at the Saputo Stadium on Saturday. The team is now in second place on the Eastern Conference rankings.

While Columbus Crew raced to a two-goal lead in the second half following goals from Jonathan Mensah and Lucas Zelarayán in the 66th and 68th minutes, a red card for Luis Diaz, who was caught kicking Kei Kamara in the leg, saw the game’s momentum swing in the home team’s favor.

In the 89th minute, Victor Wanyama pulled a goal back for Montreal, with Zachary Brault-Guillard scoring a dramatic 94th-minute equalizer to complete the Canadian side’s comeback.

Montreal has proven consistent, winning three and drawing one of their last five games, while Columbus remains unbeaten in their last seven games; winning two and drawing five.

Columbus next faces 9th placed Inter Miami CF while Montreal plays Chicago Fire FC in another home game. While Montreal’s playoff spot is confirmed, Columbus Crew will have four more games in which to cling onto their playoff berth.
