The Los Angeles Chargers have confirmed that their Pro Bowl left tackle Rashawn Slater will miss the remainder of the 2022 NFL season. Slater, who was Chargers’ 13th overall pick in last year’s draft, suffered a torn biceps in a 38-10 loss to Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

“It’s going to be a tough loss for us,” said Chargers’ head coach Brandon Staley. “We’re going to make sure over the next couple of days that we put good contingency plans in place.”

The Chargers had high hopes for Slater when they drafted him in the 2021 NFL Draft, and Northwestern more than delivered on the expectations in his rookie campaign. He started 16 games last season, earning a Pro Bowl nod and Second-team All-Pro honors.

The Chargers will most likely turn to veteran Storm Norton, who filled in at left tackle after Slater left the Jags game. However, due to Norton’s issues with reliability, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the LA team surveys the trade market to bolster the dept on the position.

Unfortunately for the Chargers, they also lost four-time Pro Bowl linebacker Joey Bosa in Week 3. Bosa is considered to be out indefinitely due to a groin injury. It is unclear whether he’ll end up on injured reserve, but reports indicate the 27-year-old might miss at least a couple of weeks.
