It isn’t a secret that Chelsea is keen to add firepower in the summer, having explored moves for several high-profile forwards in recent months. According to ESPN, their search has now zeroed in on Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Chelsea previously had sights on Lyon’s Moussa Dembele and RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner as preferred targets, but the talks with their respective clubs haven’t been successful until now. Lyon reportedly set too high of a price on Dembele, while Werner would prefer a move to Liverpool.

Aubameyang, on the other hand, would be a cheaper alternative as he has just a year and a half left on his contract with Arsenal. The two sides haven’t managed to find common ground so far. If they don’t make progress soon, Arsenal would reportedly be willing to part with Gabon international in the summer to avoid letting him go for free.

Chelsea is likely to face some competition trying to get Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, as the 30-year-old is reportedly also a target for Barcelona and Juventus. Also, Arsenal might not be willing to deal with their cross-town rivals.

Since arriving at Arsenal from Borrusia Dortmund in 2017, Aubameyang has proved himself as a real goal-scoring machine. He scored 61 goals in 97 games, including 20 goals in 31 appearances this season.
