Premier League side Chelsea is looking to boost their midfield depth with U.S. midfielder Tyler Adams. According to ESPN’s James Olley, Chelsea is set to enter talks with Leed United with the player being open to the move.

Adams has been a key player for Leeds last season after joining from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig. However, he couldn’t help the club remain in the Premier League and is now looking to make a move in order to play in the top flight in 2023-24.

Reportedly, Adams has a £20 million release clause in his contract, and Leeds couldn’t stop him from leaving if Chelsea activates it. However, there are expectations that the two clubs will try to negotiate a different structure first.

Tyler Adams emerged as one of the most talented young midfielders in soccer in recent years. Besides his stellar plays with Leipzig and Leeds, Adams has also been a cornerstone of the young United States men’s national team. He currently serves as USMNT’s captain, an honor he received ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and has collected 36 international caps.

Chelsea has been working on bringing in new midfielders for quite some time after the new head coach Mauricio Pochettino identified it as an area of need. Besides Adams, the club is also interested in Brighton’s Moises Caicedo but is still reluctant to pay the asking price of £100 million.
