Premier League giant Chelsea is making a late attempt to hijack Barcelona’s move for Bosnian star midfielder Miralem Pjanic. According to influential Italian reporter Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea decided to offer Brazilian midfielder Jorginho to Juventus as part of the Pjanic deal.

Recent reports claimed that Pjanic agreed to a four-year deal with Barca, with the Catalan giants being close to constructing a deal with Juve. In the meantime, Chelsea identified the 30-year-old playmaker as the perfect addition to their midfield and decided to make a late push.

Chelsea hopes that offering Jorginho gives them an advantage in talks with Juventus. The head coach of Italian powerhouse Maurizio Sarri is a big Jorginho fan, having coached him in Napoli and during his lone season with London club. Sarri is reportedly keen for a reunion and would welcome swapping Pjanic for the Brazilian.

Miralem Pjanic is considered one of Europe’s best midfielders for years now and has been a key piece in Juventus’ dominant run in Italy. Since signing with Juve in 2016, Pjanic helped the team win six trophies, including three consecutive Seria A titles. During his time in Turin, he played 167 games, contributing with 22 goals and 35 assists in all competitions.

Pjanic, who is the vice-captain of Bosnia and Herzegovina national team, previously played with Metz, Lyon, and AS Roma.
