The Kansas City Chiefs continue to rebuild the wideout core in the aftermath of Pro Bowler Tyreek Hill’s departure in the offseason. According to multiple reports, the Chiefs bolstered their passing game by acquiring Kadarius Toney, a first-round selection in the 2021 NFL Draft, in a trade with the New York Giants.

In order to land Toney, the Chiefs have agreed to send two picks to New York. The Giants are getting a third-rounder and a sixth-rounder in the 2023 draft.

The Giants’ head coach Brian Daboll confirmed the trade during a chat with reporters, saying that the franchise believed it was the best move for the team.

“We just thought it was for the best of the team,” Daboll said. “Wish Kadarius well.”

The Giants drafted Kadarius Toney with the 20th overall pick last year after being impressed by his college achievements with Florida. Toney struggled with injuries in his rookie year but still had a solid outing that saw him grab 39 receptions for 420 yards.

During the offseason, the Giants revamped their front office and coaching staff, and the new regime turned out to be less than impressed with Toney. The 23-year-old player was rarely given a chance to play and has been on the field for only 35 snaps in 2022.

The Chiefs are now hoping that a change of scenery can serve well for Toney and that they can unlock his potential moving forward. He is expected to step in the No.4 or No.5 WR role.
