After losing backup quarterback Chad Henne to an ankle injury on Sunday, Kansas City Chiefs reacted swiftly and have already found his replacement. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Chiefs brought in veteran Matt Moore to replace Henne as the backup to Patrick Mahomes.

Moore joins Kansas City after he spent 2018 without a team. The 35-year-old QB last played with Miami Dolphins in 2017 when he threw for 861 yards and four touchdowns in four games.

Henne, who signed with the Chiefs in 2018, injured his ankle in a preseason game against San Francisco 49ers on Saturday night. He is scheduled to undergo surgery on Tuesday, after which the team will have more information about the expected timeframe of his return.

Matt Moore started his NFL career with Carolina Panthers, who signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2007. He spent four years with Carolina before signing with Miami Dolphins in 2011. Although he was a starter for the better part of his first year in Miami and managed to put up solid numbers, Moore was demoted to a backup role for the following season and kept it until he was released in 2017.

Moore’s NFL career stats include 59.6 percent career pass completion for 6,938 yards, 45 TDs, and 36 interceptions.
