NBA free agency is a couple of days old, and there are already some big moves happening around the league. Houston Rockets decided to take part in all of this and sign their point guard Chris Paul to a four-year, $160 million deal. Paul joined the Rockets in the summer of 2017 via an opt-in-and-trade deal from the Los Angeles Clippers.

The deal was first reported by ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski.

With Chris Paul locked in, the Houston Rockets will try to finish the job they started in last season playoffs. Rockets were one game away from advancing past Golden State Warriors into NBA Finals, but Paul suffered an injury in Game 5 of the series and the team was helpless without him. This showed the Rockets that they are close to beating the Warriors and they decided to spend big in order to keep the band together.

Well, not too big, since the Rockets decided to let go one of their key role players, forward Trevor Ariza. Ariza decided to sign with the Phoenix Suns on a one-year, $15 million deal; offer Rockets didn’t want to match. They did, however, bring back Gerald Green on veterans minimum of $2.4 million.

Houston Rockets have one more big decision to make since their center Clint Capela is restricted free agent and he will be looking for a max deal.
