U.S. star forward Christian Pulisic will have a unified jersey number at the start of the 2020/21 season. Already sporting the No. 10 jersey with the United States national men’s team, Pulisic will now wear the same number with Chelsea.

The Premier League side announced on Friday that Pulisic has been handed the iconic No. 10, previously worn by club legends like Joe Cole and Eden Hazard. The last player to wear this number was Brazilian forward Willian, who left the club this summer to join Arsenal.

Christian Pulisic joined Chelsea last summer and took the No. 22 jersey, which he previously wore with Borussia Dortmund. He enjoyed an impressive campaign with the club thorough the 2019/20 season, contributing with 11 goals and 10 assists in all competitions. Pulisic was exceptionally important for the team after the coronavirus pandemic break, fueling the run to the UEFA Champions League spot in Premier League.

Pulisic’s good performances didn’t go unnoticed in England, as he received the Premier League’s Young Player of the Year award nomination as well.

When he made his USMNT debut in 2016, Pulisic had a No. 17 jersey on his back. But after just one year, he was handed the No. 10, and he has been wearing it ever since.
