The Los Angeles Clippers have decided to part ways with Doc Rivers, who has been the team’s head coach for the last seven seasons.

The firing looked to be almost inevitable after yet another year of playoff disappointment. While Rivers has led the team to the postseason in six of his seven years, the Clippers have had little success, never making it passed the second round.

This year was supposed to be different, with All-Stars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George joining the already talented squad. The Clippers ended up losing to the Denver Nuggets in the second round and in embarrassing fashion, blowing a 3-1 series lead.

Despite the unfortunate end of his career in Los Angeles, Rivers is a winning coach that shouldn’t have much of a problem getting a new job if he wants one. Rivers has been a coach since 1999, leading the Orlando Magic, Boston Celtics, and Clippers. He won a championship with Boston in 2008 and took the team to the NBA Finals again in 2010.

According to reports, Rivers has already been contacted by the Philadelphia 76ers and New Orleans Pelicans, who are both looking for a new coach.

Both jobs could be appealing to Rivers. The Pelicans have an interesting young core led by Zion Williamson, while the 76ers are already an established contenders in the East, led by Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons.
