Los Angeles Clippers are keeping the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award in house. After Lou Williams won the award in the past two seasons, Clippers’ power forward Montrezl Harrell now claimed the honors in 2019/20.

Counting the Jamal Crawford’s NBA Sixth Man of the Year Awards in 2014 and 2016, the Clippers have now won five in the past seven years.

Harrell received 58 first-place votes and had 397 points, edging out Oklahoma City’s guard Dennis Schroder, who finished second with 328 points (35 first-place votes). Williams finished third with 127 points.

Montrezl Harrell, who is the first non-guard since 2011 and Lamar Odom to receive the award, is currently enjoying a career year. In the 2019/20 regular season, he averaged 18.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game while also being a strong presence on the defensive side of the ball.

Harrell is set to become a free agent in the offseason, and the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award will definitely help him have an even bigger market. Clippers are considered the favorites to keep him, but it remains to be seen whether they’ll have enough cap space to keep him going elsewhere.
