After placing the franchise tag on him earlier this off-season, the Cowboys committed to their future with defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence.

The Cowboys and Lawrence agreed to a huge $105 million deal with the pass rusher on Friday.

The deal will keep Lawrence in Dallas, provisionally, for 5 years. The $105 million deal includes $65 million guaranteed and a lucrative $25 million signing bonus.

The $65 in guaranteed money in Lawrence’s deal is the 4th-most in a contract for a defensive player in the history of the NFL.

Lawrence has been a force in the Cowboys’ pass rush during the pass two seasons, recording double-digit sacks in 2017 and 2018. He made his first two career Pro Bowls in those seasons.

While he didn’t quite match his incredible 14.5 sack season last year, he put up a solid year.

The 10.5-sack, 64 tackle season that Lawrence posted in 2018 is even more impressive when one considers that he played the entire season with a torn labrum in his shoulder.

Lawrence underwent shoulder surgery during the offseason and hopes to be ready for the start of training camp this fall. The Cowboys will depend on him to anchor their pass rush in 2019 and for years to come.
