Dallas Cowboys continue to be on the receiving end of bad news to start the 2020 NFL season. Already dealing with depth issues caused by injuries, the Cowboys learned over the weekend that their starting offensive tackle La’el Collins won’t play at all this year.

Collins landed on injured reserve just before the season opener, struggling with a hip injury. Despite the serious nature of the injury, the 27-year-old player was reportedly willing to play through pain in order to help Dallas this season.

However, after his hip didn’t respond to treatment, Collins was forced to schedule a surgery that will sideline him for the remainder of the season.

Cowboys signed La’el Collins as an undrafted free agent in 2015, and the LSU product turned out to be one of their better finds in the past years. Collins quickly established himself as a starter for Dallas and has made 61 starts since entering the league.

The organization now views Collins as the future of their offensive line, having inked him to a five-year, $50 million extension in 2019.

With Collins out, Cowboys have turned to another undrafted player, rookie Terence Steele, to fill his shoes. While Steele had a promising start of his pro career, Dallas reportedly still isn’t convinced by him and are looking to free-agent market to increase the depth on the position.
