Dallas Cowboys will have linebacker Leighton Vander Esch ready to go for the start of 2020 season after the 24-year-old Pro Bowler underwent a neck surgery back in January.

Speaking with reporters on Thursday, Vander Esch said that he is now fully recovered and that the injury is behind him. “I feel amazing. That’s all behind me. I’m not worried about my neck anymore,” he said.

The neck issues limited Vander Esch to just nine games in 2019. Still, he managed to tally 72 tackles, 0.5 sacks, three pass deflections, and one forced fumble.

Without Leighton Vander Esch, Cowboy’s defense crumbled late in the season, and the team ended up missing the playoffs after series of losses. Now that he’s back, Cowboys should be more stable and efficient in stopping the opponents and give a chance to their offense to win more games.

However, Vander Esch knows the predictions mean nothing without execution.

“This year, we’ve got to stop talking about it and go do it. It’s as simple as that,” he added.
