Veteran pass rusher Everson Griffen might end his stint with Dallas Cowboys a lot sooner than expected. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Cowboys informed other teams around the league that Griffen is available in trade talks ahead of NFL’s trade deadline.

Griffen arrived in Dallas back in August, inking a one-year deal that could be worth up to $6 million. He had a solid season so far, getting 2.5 sacks, 20 tackles, and six QB hits in seven weeks.

Still, with the Cowboys seemingly being out of playoff contention, it makes sense for the organization to try and get something in value for the veteran they might not need.

Despite playing in NFC East, the weakest conference in NFL, Dallas Cowboys are not likely to turn around their season at this point. On top of playing poorly on the defensive end, the Cowboys lost quarterback Dak Prescott to a season-ending injury while his backup Andy Dalton suffered a concussion in Week 7 and might have to miss some time as well.

Everson Griffen is one year removed from a Pro Bowl season, making him an attractive option for teams that struggle in the pass rush department. Baltimore Ravens, where Griffen spent 10 years of his NFL career, would likely be favorites to land him if they didn’t acquire Yannick Ngakoue last week. Instead, Seattle Seahawks, who look like they are few pieces away from seriously challenging for Super Bowl this season, look like the most probable option for the 32-year-old player.
