Ben DiNucci’s stint as Dallas Cowboys’ starting quarterback lasted just one game. After a poor performance against divisional rivals Philadelphia Eagles in Week 8, DiNucci is reportedly heading to the bench.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Cowboys will choose between veteran Garrett Gilbert and recent practice squad addition Cooper Rush to take under center for the upcoming Week 9 game against undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers. This means Dallas will have a fourth different starter at the QB position so far in 2020.

Dallas Cowboys’ QB issues began in Week 5 when starter Dak Prescott suffered a season-ending ankle injury in a game against New York Giants. Backup Andy Dalton stepped in for Prescott and managed to start two games before suffering a concussion in a 3-25 loss to Washington Football Team in Week 7.

DiNucci, who was Cowboys’ seventh-round pick this year, took over against the Eagles and had a struggling outing. The 23-year-old James Madison product completed 21 out of 40 passes he attempted, throwing for 180 yards and zero touchdowns. He was sacked four times and also had two lost fumbles.

Dallas now hopes that their two Cooper Rush or Garrett Gilbert can help them keep the ship afloat, although this is an unlikely scenario considering the duo’s resume.

Rush has only three pass attempts in his NFL career and has managed to complete one for two yards.

Gilbert, on the other hand, is a bit more accomplished. He has two pass completions out of six attempts and has thrown for 40 yards.
