Dallas Cowboys want to have defensive end Randy Gregory around the team although he still hasn’t been cleared by the league to take part in the 2020 NFL season.

Gregory, who has been suspended indefinitely since 2018, applied to be reinstated back in March. However, the league still hasn’t made the decision on his case and it’s unclear whether and when his suspension might be lifted.

ESPN’s Todd Archer reports that despite this, Cowboys plan to include Gregory in team activities when the training camp kicks off. The team previously signed the 27-year-old to an extension through the 2020 season.

Randy Gregory entered the 2015 NFL Draft as a potential first-round pick, but ended up falling to the second round where he was picked up by Cowboys. Gregory’s pro career didn’t start well, as injuries and suspensions due to substance abuse caused him to play just 14 games in his first three years in NFL.

It appeared that Gregory’s career is back on track in 2018, as he managed to deliver his best season as a pro. In 14 games (one start), he had 25 tackles, 6.0 sacks, two forced fumbles, and 15 quarterback hits.

Unfortunately for Gregory, he was suspended once again, this time indefinitely, in February 2019.
