Portugal’s superstar forward Cristiano Ronaldo added another international record to his resume. With an assist to Bruno Fernandes in a 3-0 win over Türkiye at the EURO 2024, Ronaldo became the player with the most assists at the European Championships.

Ronaldo, who already owns the record for most goals scored at EUROs, also became the oldest player to record an assist at the tournament at the age of 39 years, four months, and 17 days.

Ronaldo’s assist to Fernandes came in the 55th minute when Portugal already had a 2-0 lead thanks to a goal from Bernando Silva and an auto goal from Samet Akaydin.

After receiving a deep ball and escaping Türkiye’s defense, Ronaldo found himself one-on-one with goalkeeper Altay Bayındır. Instead of taking the opportunity to score his first goal of the 2024 tournament, Ronaldo passed the ball to open Fernandes, who was faced with an empty goal and calmly put the ball in the net.

With the win over Türkiye, Portugal now sits at the top of Group F with six points from two matches. It already secured a place in the knockout stage of the EURO 2024 despite having one group stage game against  Georgia left.

Türkiye, on the other hand, is second with three points after beating Georgia in the opening match. It will play Czech Republic in the final match of the group stage, with the winner being guaranteed a spot in the next stage.
