A significant number of NBA teams are looking for a point guard this summer, but not a lot of them will be available. This opened an opportunity for CSKA Moscow’s PG Nando De Colo, arguably the best player in Europe at his position, to attempt an NBA comeback.

De Colo, who has been out of the league for the last five years, recently told ESPN that he is interested in returning to NBA for the next season.

“I have asked my agents to explore NBA opportunities over the coming weeks,” – said De Colo. “I am excited for the next challenge in my career.”

De Colo is coming off a successful year with CSKA, in which he won EuroLeague title while averaging 14.7 points and 3.4 assists per game. During the past five years in Europe, the 31-year-old Frenchman also won EuroLeague MVP honors in 2016 while making the All-EuroLeague First Team three times.

San Antonio Spurs drafted Nando De Colo as 53rd overall pick of the 2009 NBA Draft but decided to keep him in Europe for three years before signing him to a deal. De Colo spent a year and a half in San Antonio, but struggled to get significant minutes and was eventually traded to Toronto Raptors in 2014. He averaged just 9.2 minutes in 21 games with the Raptors, which prompted him to head back to Europe.

Since the Raptors hold De Colo’s NBA rights, they can match any offer he receives and get him on their roster for the next season. Still, that’s is highly unlikely, given the fact that Toronto is well covered on PG position.
